At the end of 2020, Maxiscoot added pit bikes and spare parts from Apollo Motors and YCF to its range. The focus when launching this new range of products is on two of the leading brands in the MX sector, Moose Racing and FMF.
Motocross is part of the extreme sports. The participants use off-road vehicles with special long suspension travel to withstand the harsh conditions and extreme impacts and thus to cope as well as possible with rough terrains and difficult surfaces on the designated race tracks.
The first motocross race took place in England in the 1920s. Today, this discipline attracts an ever-increasing number of participants worldwide.
There are regional and international championships regulated by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), International Motorcycling Federation in English. There are two main categories:
- MX1, for motorbikes with a 4-stroke engine and 450 cc displacement and 2-stroke engine and 250 cc
- MX2, for motorbikes with 4-stroke engine and 250 cc and motorbikes with 2-stroke engine and 125 cc
There are various brands that manufacture motorbikes for motocross, including Honda, Husqvarna, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki and Yamaha. These special MX bikes are equipped with extremely powerful suspension systems for maximum performance on all types of terrain (potholes, pits, holes, rocks, bumps, ditches, ruts). They are also equipped with studded tires with very good grip on soft ground, mud, gravel, etc.
MX bikes are not approved for road use and do not have headlights, indicators, mirrors, etc. in order to be as light as possible. The fairing is made of ergonomically shaped plastics that can be quickly removed for easy maintenance.
Another special feature is the special construction and balancing of motocross bikes. The weight distribution is optimal to facilitate handling even on difficult terrain. The very powerful engines are rather demanding and require regular maintenance.
