After the official opening of the drag race season at the ScooterPower Drag Day #1, the second big event, the Racing Event #1, organized by DRT, took place last weekend.
Our Maxiscoot race team, the MXS Racing Team, and more than 230 pilots from across Europe traveled to Aquitaine in Southern France to go full throttle on the Labarde Drag Strip in Bordeaux on May 20 and 21.
Saturday morning started with a scattering of rain showers, but afterwards mechanics and riders set about adjusting their vehicle settings and optimizing their fine-tuning. After several free runs it was time for the official races that were taking all day. Lap times were getting better and better, the competition between the pilots was becoming more fierce and the overall adrenaline level went through the roof.
Throughout the entire weekend, people had the chance to participate in our popular Pit Stop Challenge at the Maxiscoot stand – it is about disassembling and then reassembling a cylinder as fast as possible. Many wanted to win the prize (a cylinder), but the real aces showed up towards the end – Alexis of Team RSM, Safak of Kentucky Racing and finally Jerome of Styl’Bike; with his record time of only 1’16 minutes he proved to be the fastest. Bravo and congrats!
This year, the DRE introduced an additional event: a Sudden Death competition with 32 participants over 50 meters. The final race was between Jordan of MXS Racing Team (Team Fast Power) and Nicolas of Team RNT. It was Jordan who won the race and got the prize.
Saturday night entertaiment with music, dancing, fun and celebrations was provided by Team RCP 83.
On Sunday morning the races resumed. All pilots gave their best to beat their previous day’s race times. The MXS Racing Team also tried really hard to improve their race times in each run.
And it paid off in the end: Remy Ratier and our MXS GP twin cylinder made it to 3rd place! Congrats to Jordan (Team Fast Power), who climbed to the top position in the S5 class rankings by winning here, and who won the Sudden Death competition as well.
Congrats to Lea, too, she came in 3rd on her Boost’air.
A big thanks to the Drag Racing Team for the great weekend, and thanks to all who participated.
The next stage of the current season will take place at the ScooterPower Weekend 2017 in Salbris. The entire European scooter racing community is invited since there is an anniversary to celebrate – 10 years of ScooterPower!
So don’t make any other plans for the weekend of July 15 – 16, 2017, there will be all kinds of fun and surprises!
